Don’t worry, this isn’t just a Disney movie party though. If you were to unlock Frankenstein’s monster, the game would switch over to a black and white mode that felt very much like the classic Universal Horror films of the 1930’s.ĭisney Crossy Road takes this aspect of the game and blows it up to epic proportions! The game boasts characters from 9 different Disney properties including The Lion King, Toy Story, Zootopia, Wreck-It Ralph and more. While the initial chicken that you started with didn’t have anything special in his world, the glow in the dark ghost did (ie, limited visibility). What I loved most about the variety of characters in the first game were the changes that each brought to the world. ![]() If there was one character you just had to have, you could also purchase most characters for a mere $.99, though occasionally a character would appear with a higher price tag. The prize machine is essentially a virtual gum ball machine that let’s you unlock a variety of different characters with which to play the game. Scattered throughout the levels are gold coins that you collect for every hundred coins you get to play the prize machine. ![]() ![]() In short, the game is an endless version of Frogger. The object of Crossy Road is simple: you control a character (a chicken in the beginning) and have to navigate it across an endless world of cars, trains, and logs. There’s a combination of factors that turned me onto the game when it first came out with the biggest two being the monetization style of the game and the retro style graphics that have been brought into an isometric 3D world. Since the game first launched in 2014 it has consistently been one of my most played games on my iPhone. There hasn’t been a time in my life where I haven’t loved Crossy Road.
